Phoneboy's web site is already the first place to check for Firewall 1 issues. When we heard he was publishing a book, we immediately bought it. This book is the most comprehensive, complete, and accurate technical reference on Checkpoint Firewall 1. If you are running Checkpoint, this HAS to be in your library. There is a reference to every problem and tweak we have ever had to do, plus some we are going to do after reading this book. Checkpoint's Technical support is expensive and horrible, so this book gives you all the info you need to run a stable and secure Firewall. This book contains screenshots, and step by step instructions for everything you need relating to Firewall 1.

This author has been providing a great service to the Linux community with his Firewall Design Tool... I've used it to configure several firewalls with outstanding results (from portscans). I also purchased this book even though I never put the two names together until I saw an ad linking the two. Linux Firewalls isn't one of those books you read by the fireplace, but it's full of specific solutions to specific issues that all networks face. I appreciate the author's knowledge and recommend his website and book to Linux users.

What a piece of junk!
This book is poorly written, poorly organized and filled with spelling and factual mistakes. I had to read through the whole thing as part of a corporate project and I wish I had never touched this book! The author has a shallow understanding at best of many of the topics he covers. The unfortunate fact is that people who do not have an advance understanding of the topic may believe that the content is accurate.

If you already have an understanding of the basic concepts of security, avoid this book; you will not learn anything new. If you are trying to understand these ideas for the first time, your money is better spent elsewhere.
