Flip phones are slightly (and refreshingly ;-) anti-tech those days. But ergonomically they are superior to Android phones by a large market. Real buttons are real buttons, and the way phone extends when unfolded is much more convenient.  At the same time some of them (for example BlackBerry 8220 ) are pretty advanced and are closer to smartphone then regular cell phones.

I did not see any with dual SIM, but there are several unlocked four bank phones that you can buy.

[Nov 16, 2014] Flip-phones Get ready for the return of a most unfashionable device

Nov 16, 2014 | The Independent
In technology, fashion tends to move in one direction: forward. But just as vinyl sales are booming in the age of Spotify, so the iPhone 6 must now compete with the flip-phone, its unlikely rival for the title of 2014's coolest communications handset.

Last week, 26-year-old stylista and musical superstar Rihanna was photographed leaving a New York restaurant with a clamshell clamped to her ear. Like flared trousers and facial hair, it appears these antediluvian devices are getting another shot at chicness.

The trend appears to have originated in the handbag of Anna Wintour, who earlier this year was spotted peering at the screen of a flip-phone she had first acquired in approximately 2004 – before she switched to a BlackBerry and, later, an iPhone.

Wintour-watchers interpreted her reversion to pre-smartphone technology as a style statement, but the Vogue editor, who is 65, is far from alone among her age group. Iggy Pop, 67, recently told The Cut website that he owns a flip-phone, "because you can drop it a lot and it won't break, and when you want to text it still has three letters to each button".

Meanwhile, in Korea, both Samsung and LG have launched brand new flip-smartphones aimed at the elderly. LG says it designed its Wine Smart handset after a round of market research found that many older consumers were intimidated by the small buttons and complicated features of many modern touch-screen smartphones.

Yet it isn't just the older generation that's turning back the technological clock. Rihanna may be rare among millennial celebrities, for whom Twitter and Instagram connectivity is mostly a must, but a recent study by the US think-tank Pew found that as many as 15 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds and 13 per cent of 25- to 34-year-olds in America don't use a smartphone.

Some surely prefer the tactile "fwap" of an unfolding clamshell to the digital click of an Apple device, while others can't afford the upgrade. But for those who can, argued writer Chiara Atik in a recent essay for online science magazine Matter, "A flip phone represents the ultimate luxury: inaccessibility."

The entertainment world's current "cool girl", 24-year-old Hunger Games actress and Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, is not on any social media. Even she, however, is outdone by Divergent star Shailene Woodley, 22, who told The Daily Beast, "I don't even have a cellphone! And if I were to have one, it would be a flip-phone... The more you get away from all the technological buzz, the more freedom you have."

Nokia 6350 Unlocked GSM Flip Phone with Second External TFT Display, 2MP Camera, Video, Internet Browser, GPS, Blue

One of the best phones I ever had, March 13, 2013

Samuel Calderon - See all my reviews

This review is from: Nokia 6350 Unlocked GSM Flip Phone with Second External TFT Display, 2MP Camera, Video, Internet Browser, GPS, Bluetooth, MP3/MP4 Player and microSD Slot - Red (Wireless Phone Accessory)

The Nokia 6350 is one of the best phones I ever had. I never had any problem dialing from any place including outside the USA. This is my second Nokia 6350 and my first one last more then 3 yrs, working well. Its easy to use and understand the features.

Had another brand with a touch screen that didn't work well. If you touched the phone, not even the screen, it would disconnect the incoming call. Couldn't carry it in my pocket. Slightest movement would make the phone do who knows what even with the touchscreen locked. Gave up on touchscreens after the manufacturer of that phone replace the original and still had the same problem. Had to discontinue my unlimited data plan because the carrier (AT&T) didn't care about the problem with the new phone. I had it over 30 days and that was enough for them .

This is an unlocked world phone. That means I can use it with any carrier anywhere in the world. When my contract with AT&T (yes, they gave me the other phone for a penny when I signed a two year contract, phone doesn't provide what I paid for but the contract is still in effect), I can use this same phone when I switch carriers.

The only thing I don't like on this phone is the inability to delete unused icons from the menu screen, or to put icon shortcuts on the screen that you do use. Have to open an icon (My Stuff) then scroll to a menu item (Tools) then scroll to Recent Calls to see who called you when you were unavailable. Would be nice to have that menu item as an icon on the main screen.

RECEPTION IS GREAT. Have to emphasize that feature. I'm in a rural 3G area (4G coming soon, or so they say) and the other phone from AT&T had two, one or no bars of service. This phone has either four or five all the time. Never dropped a call like it did all the time with the Pantech Renue from AT&T.

Nokia Mural 6750 Unlocked GSM Flip Phone with Second External OLED Display, 2MP Camera, Video, Bluetooth, MP3-MP4 P

Unclear what bands it support. This is GSM phone for sure (WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM). The large (2.25-inch) internal display supports 16 million colors and 320x240 pixels. The headset jack, which, unfortunately, is just 2.5 millimeters (we prefer a 3.5 millimeter jack). the Micro-USB port that accommodates both a USB cable and a charger. We applaud Nokia for moving toward the Micro-USB charger standard. Slim, shiny, and armed with push-to-talk (PTT) and 3G, the Mural has a solid feel, thanks to its metal skin.

The Nokia Mural 6750 Mural is a colored flip-phone. It is equipped with a 2.2-inch, TFT, LCD color display with a screen resolution of 320x240 pixels and support for 16.7 million colors. This cell phone comes with a second 1.4-inch external display with a resolution of 128x160 pixels. This phone features 70MB of internal storage space, but an additional 32 GB of storage can be added with the use of a compatible microSD card. This flip phone has a phone book capacity of 1000 entries. Contacts can have up to five numbers per entry and be associated with a picture as well as a special ring tone. The battery life for is estimated to be 4.2 hours of 3G talktime and 360 hours of 3G standby time. It has 25.4 hours of music playback time and 5.8 hours of video playback time. Connections on this cell phone include a USB port and a 2.5 mm headphone jack. It also features Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling. This Nokia cell phone is an unlocked device, which means the buyer can use it with any service provider with the purchase of a correct sim card. It weighs approximately 4 oz and measures 1.9 inches wide by 3.8 inches high by 0.6 inches thick.

Best simple flip I've owned November 8, 2012

By Mike

Amazon Verified Purchase

I did a lot of research looking for the best simple flip, and this was on a Top 10 list. My last flip was the LG CU515. If you've used one of those, this phone will be very familiar - the operating system and layout is nearly identical. The only real difference is that this phone is better.

PROS:
GSM phone
Simple address book
AT&T address book if you have AT&T (syncs your contacts, as I understand it)
Pretty nice processor, a big improvement in speed over my CU515
Beautiful, bright internal LCD
Nice external LCD
Very impressive camera for being an older dumb phone (up to 1280x1024 photos, high quality). Image capture features include a few lighting and color adjustments, a Timer, and resolution and quality setting.

Good speaker volume

3 speed dial keys
Selectable Mass Storage over USB feature
Voice Command feature (haven't used it)
Threaded Text Messaging
Video Share feature
IM, Email, and Web browsing capability
Lightweight phone with rounded edges, feels good in the hand
Big buttons
Cheap. I picked up my Unlocked phone Used for $30 from ReCellular here on Amazon.
Made by Pantech

CONS:
Proprietary charging / headphone / data cable
Text message tones can only be selected from audio files in the "Alert Tones" folder, and you cannot transfer files into that folder from inside the phone - don't know if you can do it over USB.

BOTTOM LINE:
The perfect simple flip; I love it.

Big buttons, Speed Dial keys, simple features, Breeze mode, and up-to Very Large font size (only in Breeze mode) make this a good choice for anti-tech seniors with bad eyesight. I think I'll get my Dad one for Christmas.

Pretty good basic flip phone June 30, 2013

I bought this to use with PTEL Mobile, on sale so pretty good value. In the world of basic flip phones, it's pretty good. I only need a phone for calls and texting, so cannot comment on the other stuff like web browsing, etc. It looks nicer than my old Virgin Mobile Arc phone and has a nicer ringtone. The manual that iZone includes is barely informative, but you can find one online pretty easily or just dig around in the menus.

The only thing I liked better on my old phone compared to this Samsung one is being able to check the time without opening the phone.

Reception is not quite as good, but I think that is more an issue with my provider and location. I haven't had dropped calls or anything, but there is one spot in my house where reception disappears. Sound quality of calls is better than any other phones I've owned, but I have owned some really crappy phones, so..

Battery power also seems decent, but again, I'm not a power user. Oh - also, the camera is better too than on my old phones!

It's no iPhone, but you can change exposure and zoom really easily which is pretty cool and change settings (night time, outdoor, etc.).

Easy to activate, easy to use simple flip phone. Cheaper and way better than old Sprint Sanyo flip phone it replaced. SIM card readily interchangeable. Battery life is very good. Screen size is small but usable. Keypad is easy to manipulate. Would recommend it if your looking for a good quality inexpensive flip phone.

This review is from: Samsung SA-S36001 Unlocked Phone - International Version - Romantic Pink (Wireless Phone Accessory)

I have used Motorola Razr V3 cell phones for years, but have had some problems with the last two, so I thought I would try this Samsung. It has better battery life, works well without a case, and is relatively easy to use the menu. Receiving and making calls is very easy. I use it in Europe, Asia and America. I like it better than the Razrs and would definitely buy another one.
