We hope you’re enjoying the site, and we are happy that you want to leave a feedback, point out an error or just share your comments with us.

This is a large site. You need to provide the URL of the page about which you are leaving feedback

Please use an appropriate section below to send us your comments. That will save us some time spend on sorting comments out.

This site gets substantial amount of comments and some of them really helped to improve the site. We distinguish four main types of comments:

Comments about broken links Please note that this is quite a large site. It's very important to be as specific as possible and provide us with the URL of the Softpanorama page that contain broken link(s) (see "Referring page URL" field in the form below). If possible, suggest a new location of the broken link; See The Internet Search FAQ - Find it on the Net on how to best use search engine for finding broken links (not that this is an old FAQ and it might not fully correspond to, say, realities of search space in 2008)
Comments about layout and formatting Please include URL of the page you found an error or want to comment upon. In case of HTML format errors, if possible, please provide HTML code that is wrong. Please do not forget to provide link to the page in question.
New links suggestions. Please mention the page that should in your opinion contain the suggested link. Link harvesting enthusiasts should probably save their time ;-).
Other comments. We usually do not do evaluation of the products by request, althouth your suggestion might spark interest in the particular product. That does not mean that review will be positive -- this is a skeptical site. Therefore by suggesting to review a product you accept a certain level of risk.

Simply put , if you submit information about your product or link to your website it may or may not be reviewed. In any case allow for substantial backlog (up to a year).

Note: By submitting comments to the site you explicitly grant the publisher the right to publish it in the page of Softpanorama it refers to or other page at publisher discretion (including humor bulletin pages; in such cases name will be withheld). Comments can be edited for clarity.

Form comments are temporary disabled until we replace the code of the formmail script with something better.

Current way to communicate requires sending semi-structured email to the postmaster of the domain Softpanorama.org

Instead of torturing commenter with CAPTCHA, we use the following rules to determine if the letter is spam or not, the rules that proved to be sufficiently effective and less intrusive then captcha based protection. Please follow the following four rules when writing your letter:

Subject should contain word (the first letter should be capital S): Softpanorama2011
The body should start with the phrase "Dear Editor of Softpanorama," in the first line (please copy it from this page -- it is checked as a string, not as a regex, see example below.
The body should also contain the words "Sincerely yours," (with the comma) or "Best regards" somewhere in the last ten lines of the letter.
There should be at least one reference to the Softpanorama page is the letter. The required format is standard URL format. For example http://www.softpanorama.org/Solaris/index.shtml

If the letter is not about any page just insert somewhere reference to the page http://www.softpanorama.org/index.shtml

The following example can serve as a template for one common type of letters:

Subject: Softpanorama2011 -- Broken link on the page...

Dear Editor of Softpanorama,

I want to inform you that link ... on the page ... is broken.

The correct link is ...

... ... ...

Sincerely yours,

Currently all emails are written to a file on the server. At night the letters are analyzed using simple Perl script running from cron for the rules listed above and those that comply with the rules are moved into mailbox for the editor As simple as that. Mails that do not follow the rules are discarded automatically.

Those requirements proved to be sufficient to guard me from the flood of spam and I think they are not overly restrictive for those who want to send me feedback.
