Although fmweb is a platform-independent java application, it offers many functions that specialized file managers for the operating system provide.
fmweb is a multi-user application, for each user a "document root" can be defined.
fmweb's picture browsing and manipulation functions allow to use it as a web picture album.
fmweb can be used by webspace providers to give the users simple access to their files. This latest version has been tested on Linux, Windows XP, Windows 2000 and SUN Solaris. Previous versions also worked on AIX and OS/2 and the new version should work on these platforms too.New in Release 1.4.3
The new FTP backup function allows to transfer the contents of a folder tree from the fmweb server to a FTP backup server. The Commons-net package of the Jakarta project is used internally as FTP client.
If you are upgrading from a previous release, you have to add the commons-oro.jar file to your CLASSPATH in fmweb.bat or fmweb.sh.

ShellTelnet is a Windows telnet client intended for use with a Unix/Linux shell account.
In addition to the classic telnet functionality, ShellTellnet introduces a new way of browsing Unix hosts. ShellTelnet allows the user to browse files and folders on a remote machine using the Windows Explorer interface.
ShellTelnet includes a hidden FTP client. It makes possible to transfer files without a use of slow and archaic utilities like Kermit and zmodem.
To use ShellTelnet you need a local Windows machine and a remote machine running Unix or Linux. It is assumed that the default shell on the remote machine is BASH.
